On a sunny Saturday afternoon in July our 2010 Vintage release wine were launched to Members and fans of GUNDOG ESTATE at Efendy Restaurant in Sydney’s Balmain.
Up for tasting were:
GUNDOG ESTATE 2008 Shiraz
GUNDOG ESTATE 2010 Rosé
GUNDOG 2010 Hunter’s Semillon
The Canberra grown Shiraz and Rosé were already well known to many friends of GUNDOG but the Hunter’s Semillon, made from grapes we sourced from an un-irrigated vineyard on the steep slopes of Mount View in the Hunter Valley (the true home of Semillon) was a welcome surprise to the eighty or so people who dropped in on the tasting during the afternoon.
The GUNDOG philosophy will always be to restrict the varieties of wines we produce in order to concentrate on individual styles and qualities, but the addition of such a regionally specific fine dry white wine to our cellar represents an important development for us. The Hunter’s Semillon proved to be very popular with our tasting members.
During the afternoon guests were fed superb Turkish meze style snacks, prepared by chef Somer Sivrioglu and his kitchen team. Matching the various seafood, meat and vegetarian tastes to the range of GUNDOG ESTATE wines provided a culinary structure to the afternoon.
Smooth dining and tasting was encouraged by the inimitable one-man-band and friend of GUNDOG, Ben Osmo and his guitar and flute.
