Working with a group of customers based in Australia, Singapore and Shanghai, winemaker Matt Burton has delivered his first red wine to China. The 2010 vintage Shiraz, bottled under the “Great Aussie Red” label, has been specifically blended with Chinese tastes in mind. The wine offers great fruit intensity and a soft approachability that has really become a hallmark of Australian Shiraz.
By implementing a blending philosophy, and sourcing fruit from multiple vineyards in South Eastern Australia, we are able to deliver a consistent, high quality product. The wine is blended and bottled at Matt’s Hunter Valley winery, where he implements a combination of winemaking practices that blend modern and traditional philosophies, with the focus on fruit expression and balance in the wine. Strict quality controls, and Matt’s watchful eye, ensure the wine is delivered to the customer exactly as we intend.
At the moment, there is one wine in the range, though this may well expand in coming vintages with premium single-vineyard wines to compliment the Great Aussie Red. The wine is being warehoused in Shanghai, and we are currently seeking distributors for the wine across China.
