GUNDOG meets the Judges.

Thursday, October 07, 2010

So far this year, GUNDOG ESTATE with its range of three wine varieties has won fourteen wine show awards.

The highest of these Awards has been the Gold Award and Trophy for GUNDOG ESTATE 2010 Rosé in the NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show.  The judges commented that this wine was a “standout” compared to the rest of the class and awarded it a full six points ahead of its nearest competitor.

In the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards our yet to be released GUNDOG 2010 Poacher’s Semillon was awarded Top Gold. This is a delicious Australian Semillon from superb Hunter Valley fruit and we look forward to this wine ageing gracefully into a classic example of its style.

Our third Gold Award comes from the recently announced NSW Wine Show results where our latest Shiraz, the GUNDOG ESTATE 2009 Shiraz was awarded Gold and included in the State’s Top Forty Wines.  Along the way, this Shiraz has also picked up three

Silver Awards, and a batch of Bronzes, in fact it has won an award in every show in which it has exhibited this year.

Earlier in the year our GUNDOG ESTATE 2008 Shiraz was awarded BLUE/GOLD in the Sydney Internationsl Wine Competition – the only wine competition in Australia where the competing wines are judged against appropriate foods.

GUNDOG ESTATE’s Holy Grail is the production of a perfect single vineyard Shiraz wine. Having two Gold Award Shiraz wines under our belt in our first two vintages suggests the direction on the path forward is now set.
